Every game at Super Rad undergoes a full restoration. We use all original parts, boards, and monitors to deliver the authentic arcade experience these classics were designed for.
While most arcade bars are ok buying games at auction and dumping them on the floor, we care deeply about our selection of games. The quality of the games is a reflection of the company and the brand, and we spend significant time, effort and money to back up our beliefs.
All games are restored with new paint, artwork, updated lighting, as well as all original monitors, boardsets and controls. You will not find any multi-cade, reproduction, or games without an original monitor at Super Rad Retro Lounge (with very few exceptions). Our games are meticulously restored to work as they were intended the day they were released.
This is why we aim daily to make Super Rad the best arcade bar in Raleigh, NC.
Arcades have 5 important components: the monitor, the power supply, the game board (PCB), the control panel (buttons/joysticks), and the wiring. But these classics are 40+ years old and require an extensive overhaul to be presentable.
You can have a fully restored arcade cabinet that looks great but does not work, and you can have a game that plays flawlessly but looks like it came out of a dumpster. Our goal is to have arcades that look and play great using all original parts.
New paint, side art, control panels, T-molding, marquees, updated lighting, and full cabinet refresh. Every game looks like it belongs in a showroom.
Original CRT monitors, original game boards, rebuilt power supplies, new wiring harnesses, and thorough testing. Every game plays like the day it shipped.
Restoring and maintaining pinball games is entirely different than arcades. There are hundreds of parts in a pinball, and the game can technically function without many of them working, but every broken part makes the game less enjoyable, harder to play, harder to score points, and ultimately just not fun.
We upgrade every game we can to have modern lighting, modern color screens, and do what is called a topside teardown on every game we get. We take the entire top of the game off, take every piece apart, clean it, replace bad parts, and put it all back together. New rubbers, routine waxing, cleaning, and tasteful upgrades keep our pinball machines in top shape.
In Raleigh, NC there are 2 other places with a lot of pinballs, however we are the one that primarily focuses on games from the 90s and 2000s, just like the vibe of the arcade bar.
Come experience the difference that real restorations make.
